Who are we looking for in a Surgical Medical Assistant?
The ideal Surgical Medical Assistant candidate is positive, energetic, intelligent, highly dependable, organized, and can multi-task. The Surgical Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting the Provider with patient visits, including consultative and surgical procedures.
Medical Assistant Primary Duties:
- Assisting physicians in providing quality care to patients
- Providing side-by-side assistance with surgical procedures
- Reviewing medical history
- Maintaining notes in EMR
- Obtaining appropriate consents
- Calling in prescriptions
- Performing patient callbacks
Medical Assistant Skills and Qualities:
- Able to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others, patients, and co-workers
- Able to prioritize tasks, understand the provider’s instructions, and know when to seek information or advice
- Proficient communication skills (written and verbal)
- Flexible hours
- Location: Mobile
Preferred Experience and Education:
- Medical Assistant (MA) Certification or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) License
- Hands-on experience in a clinic setting
- Dermatology or surgical experience is preferred.

We are seeking a Medical Secretary to join our clinic in Mobile, AL, performing various essential office functions and providing excellent customer service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Answering phone calls, timely voicemail retrieval, and scheduling appointments when appropriate.
- Accurate and thorough chart documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Working daily tasks within the EMR and other necessary systems.
- Processing prescription refill requests.
- Prescription prior authorizations.
- Faxes and emails.
- Assisting dermatologists and medical staff with administrative tasks.
- Handling patient inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Provide excellent customer service and ensure a positive time experience for patients.
- Communicating effectively with patients, providers, and staff.
- Handling sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a registered or certified medical assistant is preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a medical office
- Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA regulations
- Professional phone etiquette.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
